Dachshund survives a whole month in the woods

An amazing story of Honey, an 11-year-old Dachshund with a heart condition who was lost in the woods last month, turned out fine, when the dog was found.
The Vancouver Sun and the Province North Shore News reported the story Friday (July 23), about Honey, a dog that requires daily heart medication. Honey went hiking with owner Denise Beirnes in June with her other 11-year-old Doxie Eddie on the Capilano Trail in West Vancouver.
Both of the dogs were off their leash, and Honey suddenly disappeared. Dog walkers and hikers helped. They searched for days, offered a $1,000 reward and put up more than 50 posters.
“I really thought there was no way he could have survived,” Beirnes is quoted as saying. “You know I thought he had probably been killed by a predator, or somebody had him. … Obviously it broke my heart.”
Then, someone found him and called the number on his tags. He was in a ravine, had cuts on his chest and ears and a skinned nose. He was weak and hungry, but is perky and healthy now.
